After smelling tobacco in his house, Count Gil becomes convinced his wife Susanna has taken a lover. Susanna eventually reveals that she does have a secret – her own love for cigarettes. Reconciled, the couple shares a smoke.
Performed on a double bill with Mascagni’s Zanetto.
