Our season ends with a satirical take on the love and rivalries at the court of Queen Elizabeth I. The success of Merrie England established Edward German’s position as heir apparent to Arthur Sullivan at the Savoy Theater. His engaging and colorful score combined with a witty libretto has been performed more often than any other British operetta written in the 20th century.

“This is proof that…opera can certainly flourish in Boston.”
